Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I’m ready for a bookkeeper?

  1. You’re making steady money and you’re annoyed by, frustrated with, or procrastinate on your books.
  2. You actually don’t mind doing your books, but it’s time to outsource it and focus on what you’re really good at.
  3. You’re ready to grow and scale your business and bookkeeping is taking up too much of your time.

What software do you use?

I’m a Certified QuickBooks Onlines ProAdvisor and it’s the only software I recommend. It’s the industry standard!

Will you do my taxes?

In short, no. While I do not offer tax preparation services, I can help you prepare for taxes by bookkeeping. Your accountant will love you! And it will make taxes a breeze (even if it might be a painful breeze).

Can I just hire you at tax time?

You could, but getting your bookkeeping in order is best done on a monthly basis. You’ll be able to know where your business is financially all year long, instead of just at tax time. That tax bill won’t be a scary and unwelcome surprise.

While I don’t do taxes, bookkeeping prepares all your financials for you to do your taxes or to hand off to your accountant. If you hire me just at tax time and require all your bookkeeping for the year to be completed, it will definitely cost more than monthly bookkeeping.

Can’t my accountant just do my bookkeeping?

While that may be true, most accountants are focused on the big picture and getting those taxes filed. Accountants can get it done, but they are also going to charge a lot more than a bookkeeper. Bookkeepers stay on top of the details, the day-to-day transactions that happen in a month and can help you catch any errors before sending your data to your accountant at tax time.
